*ZNBC staffer found dead at a lodge* SUDDEN DEATH – GARDEN LODGE, EMMASDALE POLICE. June 10, 2025- Emmasdale Police Station, through Garden Police Post, received a report of a sudden and unnatural death today, June 10, 2025, at 16:00 hours. The report was made by Mr. Jonathan Njunga Iwake, aged 40, of Garden Compound, who is the manager at Garden Lodge. According to the report, the deceased identified as Mr. Chabwela Zulu, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, was discovered dead in Room 119 of Garden Lodge located in Garden Compound. The death is believed to have occurred between June 5 and June 09, 2025. Preliminary investigations reveal that Mr. Zulu booked Room 119 for a one-day stay on Thursday, June 05, 2025, at around 12:00 hours. The following day, the room remained locked, and the lodge management assumed he had stepped out with the keys, as he was known to be a regular client. However, on Monday, June 09, 2025, a foul smell was smelt within the lodge premises. Management initially suspected a fault in the sewer system and commenced work to address it. The situation escalated today, June 10, 2025, when the smell intensified and flies were seen hovering around Room 119, prompting management to report the matter to Garden Police Post. Police officers visited the scene and, upon entry into Room 119, discovered the body of Mr. Chabwela Zulu lying face upwards on the bed in a decomposed state. A search of the body led to the recovery of a ZNBC identity card bearing his names and designation as a Post Producer, suggesting that he was an employee of the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation The deceased’s body has since been transported and deposited in the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
