🌋 *Fuego Volcano Eruption in Guatemala Causes Mass Evacuations* 🇬🇹 Fuego Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in Guatemala, erupted on June 4, 2025, generating ash columns that reached over 7,000 meters in height and pyroclastic flows that descended up to seven kilometers down its slopes. 👥 This intense volcanic activity forced the preventive evacuation of more than 700 people from communities in the departments of Sacatepéquez and Chimaltenango, among other nearby areas. 🧡 Guatemalan authorities, through the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction, declared an institutional orange alert and established shelters for evacuees. 🗓 The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology reported that the eruption lasted just over 30 hours, ending on June 6, although it warned that volcanic activity will continue with explosions of varying intensity and the possible dispersion of ash up to 30 kilometers away.
