Ever heard of _AFRICA 50?_ For centuries, African infrastructure has been shaped—and often stalled—by foreign aid, shifting global politics, and chronic underinvestment. While donors like USAID, the EU, and the World Bank play key roles, their agendas change with administrations (remember Trump’s foreign aid cuts?). A new generation of African-led initiatives is rewriting the script. Enter Africa50—a pan-African infrastructure investment platform, conceived in 2012 and launched in 2014 by the African Development Bank and 33 African countries. Rooted on the continent and unshaken by global aid cycles, Africa50 focuses on real, bankable infrastructure. It has committed over $895 million, invested in 27 projects across 29 countries, and mobilized more than $8 billion in total value. This model (while not widely known) is what Africa needs—not charity or dependency, but sustainable, homegrown investment with scale and staying power. #pushafrican #africaninitiatives #panafricanism #offdonors #mud
