*Don’t be a Dishonest Worker*
_By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare_
_Day 137 (17/05/2025)_
> _Proverbs 10:2 (NIV) “Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death.”_
Dishonesty is the opposite of integrity. The problem of employees wanting to make money by fraudulent means at the workplace has been the bane of many economies in the world, especially in Africa. Many governments are grappling with corruption, cybercrimes, robbery and other vices because of greed and the desire for quick money. The Bible says in _Jeremiah 17:11 (NLT), “Like a partridge that hatches eggs she has not laid, so are those who get their wealth by unjust means. At midlife they will lose their riches; in the end, they will become poor old fools.”_ Here are three reasons to avoid thievery and corruption in the workplace:
1. *Dishonesty jeopardizes one's future.*
_Proverbs 10:9 (NLT) “People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.”_ Many people who use evil and crooked ways to make money know the implications of their actions when caught, but they believe they are smart enough to avoid being caught. But it's a sure way to endanger your future because sooner or later, you will be exposed.
2. *Dishonesty ruins businesses.*
_Proverbs 13:11 (NIV) “Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.”_ Dishonesty in the workplace includes employee theft, submitting incorrect receipts, time sheets, and invoices and lying to managers and co-workers. These ultimately reduce revenue and may collapse the business.
3. *Dishonesty brings shame to one's family.*
_Proverbs 15:27 (NIV) “The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live.”_ Those who indulge in corruption are not the only people who suffer when exposed. The reputation of everybody in the family is ruined. And it is hard to recover from a ruined reputation.
_Precious one, because of the ill effects of dishonesty on our lives and that of others, let honesty be your guiding principle, especially at the workplace._
_Prayer: Heavenly Father, I receive grace to maintain honesty and integrity in my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen._
