*Stay True to Your Place in Christ*
_By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare_
_Day 150 (30/05/2025)_
> _Colossians 3:1 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God."_
God our Father placed us in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His right hand. This place in Christ is both a place of authority and a place of separation from the world and so we are promised that when Christ, who is our life, appears, we shall appear with Him in glory.
It is, therefore, important to stay true to the kind of life we have in God, and that is why Apostle Paul admonishes us to seek those things which are above. He teaches further how to live Christlike lives.
Here are three things to do to stay true to our place in Christ:
1. *Put to death sins induced by the body's natural desires.*
_Colossians 3:5 (ASV) "Put to death, therefore, your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry"_
We live in a world where people find pleasure and satisfaction when they direct their natural bodily desires towards evil pursuits. But as Christians, we must put to death any desire or idea to engage in fornication, pornography or any perverted sexual desire or activity.
2. *Put off sins induced by emotions.*
_Colossians 3:8 "But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth."_
When our emotions are stirred up out of control, it can lead to sins not consistent with the character of Christ. And that is why we must put off anger, rage, dirty words of insult and utterances that will hurt people.
3. *Practise godly virtues.*
_Colossians 3:12 "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering"_
Finally, Apostle Paul admonishes that because we are the elect of God, we must stay true to that calling by exhibiting Christlike virtues of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, while forgiving one another as Christ forgave us.
_Precious one, remember that our place with Christ is at the right hand of God. This means to walk in Christ's authority we must do away with sins induced by our emotions and bodily desires and rather exhibit godly virtues._
*Prayer:*
_Heavenly Father, by the power of Your Spirit, I subdue my fleshly desires to live a Christlike life and not as the world does, in Jesus' name. Amen._
