PhD scholar was asked to take a written test for an Assistant Professor position.
Seriously?
After 5–7 years of rigorous doctoral research.
After clearing GATE — once for M.Tech, again for PhD.
After coursework, seminars, publications, thesis defense.
We’re still being told to prove ourselves?
What exactly are we testing here?
Teaching ability or memory power?
Research acumen or MCQ accuracy?
This is not evaluation.
This is academic gatekeeping.
Do we want reflective educators or good test-takers?
Are we looking for thinkers or crammers?
PhD training is not a joke.
It breaks people. It builds knowledge.
And yet—after all that—we’re dragged back into examination halls?
Enough with the shallow assessments.
If universities can't judge merit through research, teaching demos, and interviews, then the system is broken.
Stop insulting scholars by treating them like first-year undergrads.
This isn’t quality control. This is intellectual laziness by institutions.
PhDs are not test-takers.
They are knowledge creators.
Respect that. Or we lose them to places that do.
