Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity Title: Multiscale Digital Twins for Fracture-Aware Monitoring and Prognostics in Concrete Bridges EURAXESS Luxembourg Supervisors: Prof. Stéphane Bordas – Computational Mechanics, University of Luxembourg Prof. Numa Joy Bertola – Civil Engineering, University of Luxembourg Numa Bertola We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) to join a collaborative effort between computational mechanics and civil engineering groups at the University of Luxembourg. Project Overview: The research aims to develop physics-informed digital twins of reinforced concrete bridge structures, coupling multiscale fracture modeling with real-world sensing data (e.g. distributed fiber optics, digital image correlation, acoustic emissions). The fellow will integrate lab-scale damage data and early-stage field degradation signals to predict crack initiation, propagation, and impact on global structural performance. The ultimate goal is to enable accurate, data-driven decision-making for infrastructure maintenance and safety. Key Research Areas: Physics-informed machine learning (PIML) Multiscale fracture mechanics Structural health monitoring (SHM) Digital twin frameworks Sensor integration and uncertainty quantification Real-time finite element modeling and simulation What We Offer: Mentorship from two leading professors in computational and civil engineering Access to unique experimental datasets and simulation tools Support with proposal development, secondments, and MSCA career mentoring A stimulating interdisciplinary environment in a fast-growing European research hub Candidate Profile: We welcome candidates with a PhD in: Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering Computational Mechanics Applied Mathematics or Data Science with strong physical modeling interest Experience in fracture modeling, SHM, or PIML is highly desirable. How to Apply (Internal Selection): Please send a CV and 1-page motivation letter by July 31, 2025 to: 📧 Prof. Stéphane Bordas – stephane.bordas@ me dot com 📧 Prof. Numa Joy Berthola – numa.bertola@uni dot lu MSCA PF official deadline: 11 September 2025 More information: https://lnkd.in/e_uMPf6V https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va9MFcSAu3aT7foaiD2K
