Eid Al Adha's significance is derived from the willingness of Ibrahim عليه السلام to sacrifice his son, Ismael عليه السلام solely due to the command of Allah. Ibrahim عليه السلام did not attempt to bargain with Allah or so much as ask why such a command was necessary; he surrendered his worldly attachment to his son for a greater attachment to his Lord. This Eid, while you are celebrating with your loved ones, ask yourself: What is the Ismael عليه السلام in my life? What is it that I need to sacrifice in order to become closer to Allah? For some it may be an angry temper and for others it may be the neglect of our prayers. Whatever it is for you, actively work on sacrificing that which furthers you from #allah ﷻ. ❝The purpose wasn't for Ibrahim to kill his son rather it was to sacrifice him in his heart so all love belonged to ALLAH alone.❞ - Ibn Al Qayyim (رحمه الله)
