KwaZulu-Natal Transport and Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma commended the rapid response of motor grader operators and the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), who worked tirelessly to clear snow from the N2 highway between Kokstad and Port Shepstone. Despite the province’s pro atactive measures, including a comprehensive snowfall response plan activated after South African Weather Service (SAWS) alerts, Duma emphasized the need for public cooperation, warning, “Prevention is better than cure,” as some motorists ignored advisories, leading to dangerous conditions. With mop-up operations underway and roads reopening, the response highlights KZN’s commitment to safety amid severe winter weather.
