🔴Significant Progress in Restoring Electricity to Eastern Cape Amid Severe Weather Challenges🔴 Eskom has made “significant progress” in restoring electricity to thousands of households in the Eastern Cape, where “gale force winds, heavy snowfall, and damaging gusts” left vast areas without power earlier this week. As of Wednesday, 11 June 2025, approximately 136,000 customers have had their electricity restored, a substantial leap from the 300,000 customers who were plunged into darkness on Tuesday morning due to extreme weather conditions. Despite the progress, restoration efforts continue for 164,000 customers still affected in areas like Qumbu, Matatiele, Mthatha, Ntabankulu, Bizana, Mqanduli, and Willowvalley. Eskom has urged residents to remain patient and treat all electrical appliances as live for safety reasons, while providing multiple platforms for reporting outages.
