Meanwhile, some diagnostic centers confirm that certain doctors receive up to 50 percent of the fees for referring patients to their facilities. Kabul residents have strongly criticized the profiteering and overcharging by some doctors in hospitals and diagnostic centers, stating that in many cases, doctors prescribe unnecessary tests and medications for personal gain. Nadira, expressing concern, says that when she falls ill, she cannot afford to visit a doctor due to the high cost of laboratory tests.
