The event, currently underway, brings together key stakeholders to address measurement irregularities that directly impact the National Vision of achieving UMIS — Upper-Middle-Income-Status by 2030. At the forefront is Mr Farai Taruwona, the authoritative Trade Measures Regional Inspector for Manicaland, who leads the Province's efforts to eliminate clandestine economic sabotage through improper scaling of goods. "Accurate measurements are not just about numbers - they're about justice for our people," stated Mr Taruwona during the live proceedings. "When measurements are manipulated, it's the ordinary citizen who suffers through hidden price increases that keep them below the poverty line." The Ministry of Industry and Commerce, through its Trade Measures Department established in 2017, has been instrumental in implementing President Mnangagwa's Devolution mantra of leaving no one and no place behind. Today's event features opening remarks by Mr Kupukani Masunungure, Director for Ministry of Industry in Manicaland, including attendance by Women Affairs Director Mr Gabriel Jaji, contributions from ZTA — Zimbabwe Retailers Association Provincial Chair Mr Chiromwaamba Matyorwenyu, and insights from Chamber of SMSEs Manicaland representative Mr Kudzai Makore.
