*THE GLORY OF GOD AND THE AGENCY OF MAN III.*
_The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me’ (Judges 7:2 NIV)_
Good evening dear friend. I hope you are well.
Another lesson we learn from the story of Gideon and the 300 men who were with him is that when the Lord saw that Gideon and his men were struggling with their faith in Him, He sent them to listen to what members of the enemy camp were saying about Gideon and his men. The Lord said, _"if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp” (Judges 7:10-11 NIV)._ So, we see that the moment when Gideon heard how the Lord had caused the enemy camp to become afraid of him and his men, was another learning moment for Gideon. In that moment, he realized beyond any doubt that God was with him and that victory was assured.
We learn then that in the pursuit of God's purpose for our lives, when we receive the word from the Lord about our situation, we can be rest assured that He will bring His word to pass. We won't always get the kind of opportunity that Gideon had so that we too are led by a sign from the Lord.
However, like that man who confessed to Jesus that he believed but asked the Lord to help his unbelief, we must always be sincere when we are having a hard time to believe God's Word. Whether or not the Lord gives us a sign, we must learn to always take the Lord at His Word. Instead of basing our faith on what our physical senses can perceive, we must learn to trust God at His Word and be encouraged by the assurance of God's commitment to do what He has said to us. We must never forget that He who has started His good work in us is faithful and He will accomplish what He has purposed to do through us.
*Pray by faith with me thus:* "Lord, help me to trust you wholeheartedly and to always say Yes as You lead me in the direction of Your purpose for my life." Amen.
*Keypoint:* The assurance of God's Word should encourage us as we commit to the pursuit of God's purpose for our lives.
