*THE CULTURE OF PREPARATION.*
_Remember that I will send you the one my Father promised. Stay in the city until you are given that power from heaven (Luke 24:49 ERV)._
Beautiful evening dear friend. Happy June!
Another important lesson I believe anyone starting out on the pursuit of God's purpose for their lives should pay attention is that to go far you need a lot of preparation. There is a story I once read that illustrates this very well. The story is about an artist who was commissioned to paint a bird by a Japanese emperor. A number of months passed, then several years, and still no painting was brought to the palace. Finally, the emperor became so exasperated that he went to the artist's home to demand an explanation. Instead of making excuses, the artist placed a blank canvas on the easel. In less than an hour, he completed a painting that was to become a brilliant masterpiece. When the emperor asked the reason for the delay, the artist showed him armloads of drawings of feathers, wings, heads, and feet. Then he explained that all of this research and study had been necessary before he could complete the painting.
Likewise, there is usually a level of preparation we need to be effective in the pursuit of God's purpose for our lives. Everyone who will effectively do purpose must undergo two types of preparations. The first is what I call PREREQUISITE PREPARATION. This is the kind of preparation that is necessary before any meaningful step can be taken in the pursuit of your purpose. If you are called to be a lawyer for instance, there are steps you will need to take depending on your jurisdiction including for example, getting a law degree or enrolling at the Law School. There could be some certifications that you need or some trainings you need to attend. It is important that you identify any prerequisite preparation you need as early as possible. The second is what I call CONCURRENT PREPARATION. Your pursuit of purpose will be in phases as you expand your influence and break new frontiers. Thus, you will need to embrace the culture of preparation. As you take a new job or receive invitations to speak at different conferences and events; as you meet new people or travel to different places, you will always need to be prepared for whatever comes your way. I hope this helps.
*Pray by faith with me thus:* "Lord, help me to embrace the culture of preparation for my pursuit of Your purpose for my life." Amen.
*Keypoint:* Our effectiveness in the pursuit of God's purpose for our lives is often connected with our preparation through a lifestyle of self-development and consistent growth.
