The High Court has granted bail to Professor Ameyaw Akumfi, the former Board Chair of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), in the sum of GHC 10 million. The bail comes with the condition that two sureties must be provided and justified to the satisfaction of the court. Prof. Akumfi, who faces charges related to his tenure at the GIIF, appeared in court earlier this week. The prosecution did not oppose the bail application but insisted on stringent conditions, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the need to ensure the accused appears for trial.
