Good morning Uploading your O’Level results (like WAEC, NECO, or equivalent) to JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) is necessary before you can gain admission into any Nigerian tertiary institution for several important reasons: 1. Verification of Qualification JAMB and the universities/polytechnics/colleges need to confirm that you meet the basic entry requirements for the course you’re applying for. Most courses require: • At least five credits in relevant subjects. • Credit in English Language and sometimes Mathematics, depending on the course. Without this verification, you are not considered qualified for admission—even if you passed the UTME. 2. Admission Processing Once you’ve uploaded your O’Level results: • JAMB uses it alongside your UTME and Post-UTME scores to process your admission status. • Institutions use it to screen and shortlist candidates. If your result is missing, you’ll be flagged as “awaiting result,” and your admission may be put on hold or even denied. 3. Prevention of Fraud Requiring candidates to upload their actual results helps prevent falsification or manipulation of academic records. It also makes it easier for JAMB and schools to verify the authenticity of the documents submitted. 4. It’s a Policy Requirement JAMB, in collaboration with tertiary institutions and other educational bodies in Nigeria, has made it mandatory as part of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). No institution is allowed to give final admission to a student whose O’Level result hasn’t been uploaded to JAMB.
