Are you passionate about using cutting-edge science to tackle big environmental questions? Glória Pereira, who head's up our Analytical Chemistry team here at UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) is looking for an experienced stable isotope specialist to join our Environmental Pressures and Responses Group – working at the forefront of research into pollution, land use change, and climate impacts.
This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established, friendly team delivering high-quality, UKAS-accredited (ISO17025:2017) data that underpins some of the UK’s most important environmental research. You’ll work across disciplines, from ecology to heritage science, using stable isotopes like ¹⁵N, ¹³C, ³⁴S, ¹⁸O, and ²H to generate insight and impact.

We’re looking for someone who is:
✅ PhD-qualified (or equivalent exp.) in environmental chemistry or related
✅ Skilled in isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) & method dev.
✅ Confident in data analysis, scientific writing, and communicating findings
✅ A proactive team player who leads by example
