College of Science, Engineering and Technology Students Association (CSETSA) Office of the College Welfare Director 18/05/2025 To: All Departmental Course Rep(FOCIT,FESSA,NUESA,FABASSA) UNJUSTIFIED INFLATION OF MATERIAL PRICE It has been brought to the attention of the College Welfare Director that some course representatives have been engaging in unethical practices by inflating the prices of academic materials and items intended for student use. A recent case involved the sale of a biology slip, originally priced at ₦500, being resold at ₦600 and ₦700 by a course representative, with the stated intention of making personal profit. Similar reports have surfaced in relation to the sale of lab coats and other necessary items. This behavior is deeply concerning and contradicts the core responsibilities of a course representative. These positions are meant to serve the interests of fellow students—not to be used for personal financial gain. Going forward, all course representatives are expected to: 1. Exercise transparency in all financial dealings involving student materials. 2. Provide receipts and proper breakdowns of costs upon request. 3. Avoid unauthorized price increases. 4. Seek necessary approvals from relevant student leadership bodies before organizing large-scale purchases. Any course representative found engaging in exploitative practices may face disciplinary action, including but not limited to warnings, suspension from duty, or escalation to faculty authorities. The welfare and fairness of every student must remain our priority. Signed, CSET Welfare Director (Dammyfresh) 07015073595
