Why Do Bruises Change Color? 💜💚💛
When you bump into something and get a bruise, tiny blood vessels under your skin (called capillaries) break. Blood leaks out into the tissue, and that’s what causes the dark mark.
At first, it looks red or purple because of the hemoglobin in your blood. Then your body starts cleaning it up! White blood cells come in to break down the blood.
As the blood breaks down, it changes color: 💚 Green = biliverdin (a breakdown product) 💛 Yellow = bilirubin (another step in the healing process)
The changing colors are just your body healing itself! 🩹
