Quds News Network Huckabee: US No Longer Backs Palestinian State in West Bank, Suggests Location Could Be “Elsewhere” in Region Editing Team2 hours agoLast Updated: June 10, 2025 Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- The United States no longer fully supports a Palestinian state in the West Bank, according to Mike Huckabee, US Ambassador to Israel and a close ally of President Donald Trump. In a Bloomberg interview, Huckabee dismissed the decades-old US policy supporting a two-state solution. He said an independent Palestinian state is no longer a goal for Washington. “I don’t think so,” Huckabee said when asked if a Palestinian state remains part of US policy. Huckabee claimed there is no space for a Palestinian state “unless there are some significant things that happen that change the culture.” But those changes likely won’t happen “in our lifetime,” he added. When asked about location, Huckabee said a future Palestinian state doesn’t have to be in the West Bank — or, as he calls it, “Judea and Samaria,” the term preferred by Israeli settlers. “Why does it have to be there?” he asked. “Why not carve out a piece of land in a Muslim country?” Israel has been following a settlement policy that makes a Palestinian state impossible, destroying infrastructure, and supporting settler violence. Over 700,000 armed Israeli settlers live in illegal outposts across the West Bank, many protected by the Israeli army. Huckabee had previously mocked French President Emmanuel Macron for supporting Palestinian statehood. In a Fox News interview, he said: “If France is really so determined to see a Palestinian state, I have a suggestion — carve out a piece of the French Riviera.” Macron had called recognition of Palestine “a moral duty and a political necessity.” France and Saudi Arabia will host a conference in New York next week. The goal is to promote a Palestinian state under the Palestinian Authority. European and Arab powers hope the PA could lead reconstruction in Gaza and remove the Palestinian resistance. But on the ground, reality is stark. Over 54,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its genocidal war. More than 2 million residents live displaced, starving, and surrounded by rubble. Israel’s offensive has leveled entire cities and left most of Gaza’s population in crisis. Aid deliveries have been banned. Israel was born through the mass expulsion of native Palestinians in 1948, and legitimized only by a controversial and deeply contested UN resolution. The creation of Israel led to the forced displacement of over 750,000 Palestinians in what is now known today as the Nakba, or catastrophe.
