Ankit Sajwan Ministries Daily Devotional – May 19, 2025 Topic: “The Gift of Interpretation of Tongues: Unlocking Divine Mysteries” Scripture Reading: “…To another the interpretation of tongues..." 1 Corinthians 12:10 NKJV Devotional: Beloved in Christ, among the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, the ‘interpretation of tongues’ plays a crucial role in bringing clarity and understanding to divine communication. While tongues allow believers to speak mysteries to God, this gift ensures those mysteries do not remain hidden but are revealed for the edification of the Church. The interpretation of tongues is not a word-for-word translation but a ‘Spirit-led revelation’ of what was spoken. Apostle Paul emphasized the importance of this gift in worship settings, saying, "For this reason, the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say." (1 Corinthians 14:13). Without interpretation, a message in tongues remains incomprehensible to the congregation. Interpretation serves three major functions: 1. Edification of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 14:5) - Tongues by themselves benefit the speaker, but when interpreted, ‘they build up the Church’, allowing others to receive wisdom and revelation from God. 2. Order in Worship (1 Corinthians 14:27-28) - Apostle Paul teaches that when tongues are spoken publicly, they must be accompanied by interpretation to maintain order and ensure understanding, preventing confusion in corporate gatherings (church). 3. Revealing God's Will (Daniel 5:25-28) - Just as Daniel interpreted divine writings on the wall, this gift unveils hidden truths and prophetic messages, leading believers into greater spiritual alignment. To operate in the ‘gift of interpretation of tongues’, believers must: - Desire and Seek the Gift (1 Corinthians 14:1) – Ask God to grant understanding and spiritual discernment. - Yield to the Holy Spirit’s Leading (John 16:13) – Interpretation flows through sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, not just from your mind. - Step Out in Faith (1 Corinthians 14:13) – Interpretation requires boldness and trust in God’s voice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prayer Lord, I desire to understand the mysteries You reveal through Your Spirit.
