Seismic dampers are devices used in buildings to reduce earthquake damage by absorbing and dissipating ground motion energy. Typically made of rubber and steel layers, these dampers—especially rubber bearings—act as flexible connectors between a building’s foundation and superstructure, limiting the seismic forces that reach the structure. They enhance safety, prevent structural and non-structural damage, and improve building performance during earthquakes, especially in high-risk areas.
