#spinnaker 2, developed by #sandia National #laboratories, is a #brain-inspired #supercomputer featuring 175,000 #arm-based #cpu cores designed to mimic #neuronal activity without relying on traditional #storage or #gpus. This #neuromorphic system utilizes a complex #web of interconnected #motherboards, each housing nearly 50 #cpus, optimizing computational efficiency rather than raw #power. The #architecture boasts 2.3TB of LPDDR4 #memory and 23GB of integrated on-chip #sram, enabling it to store all processes internally. With a 10-fold increase in core count compared to its predecessor, SpiNNaker 2 incorporates a 22nm FD-SOI #manufacturing process, adaptive #body biasing, dynamic #voltage and frequency #scaling, and advanced #chip-to-chip interconnects, making it ideal for #biological neural #simulations, #ai workloads, and whole-brain #modeling. A larger system in #dresden is expected to feature 5.2 million CPU cores across 720 motherboards, further demonstrating its #scalability.
