Sonam Raghuvanshi, a newly married woman from Indore, planned to kill her husband Raja just four days after their wedding. They went to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. There, she gave ₹20 lakh to contract killers to murder him. If the killers failed, she planned to push him off a cliff herself. She first gave ₹15,000 in cash to the killers, which she took from Raja’s wallet. She stayed in touch with her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, who helped plan the murder. Three men from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh were hired to do it. On May 23, Raja and Sonam left their homestay in Nongriat.
