Having qualified as the 2022 Libertadores champion, Flamengo will face Espérance (TUN), Chelsea (ENG) and Los Angeles FC (USA). The group promotes the club's reunion with one of the Ninho do Urubu's children, midfielder Igor Jesus, the hero of the American team's qualification for the last spot in the tournament.
Igor Jesus - The 22-year-old was at Flamengo until August 2024, until he was sold to Estrela da Amadora. In Portugal, the midfielder had a short stint, of just 15 games, before being signed by the American team. The player even scored a goal in Los Angeles' victory over América-MEX in the game that gave the team a spot in the World Cup.
Marlon - Another player who came through the ranks of Rio de Janeiro's football team at Los Angeles FC is defender Marlon, who was part of the group that won the Libertadores in 2023 with Fluminense. The defender has been with the club since 2024.
Yan Sasse and Rodrigo Rodrigues - The Brazilian striker duo from the Tunisian club will face Flamengo in the competition's debut. Rodrigo has played for several Brazilian clubs, most notably Juventude (2023), where he scored 12 goals in 32 games. Yan, formerly of Vasco, is one of the team's main players. For Espérance, the player has scored 15 goals in 34 games this season.
Andrey Santos - Signed by Chelsea in 2023, the midfielder was named by coach Enzo Maresca to participate in the competition after a great season at Strasbourg-FRA, where he was on loan. A product of Vasco, Andrey will have his first opportunity in the English team's main squad.
