Asthma without Wheezing ✅ Asthma can be defined as reversible obstructive airway disease. ✅ When patients are symptomatic auscultation of the chest usually reveals expiratory and sometimes inspiratory wheezing or rhonchi. ✅ In addition, during an attack they usually have a reduced forced vital capacity (FVC), and the one-second forced expiratory volume (FEV1) is less than 75–80 percent of the FVC. ✅ If the attack is severe enough, blood gas determinations will reveal hypoxia.
