*The Biology Test* I yawned. I was tired and super sleepy 🥱. It was a Sunday. I had spent the whole day watching action and romantic movies. Infact, I had spent the whole weekend watching movies on Netflix yet the following day, we were going to begin our Form Four first term end of term exams. We were starting with Biology in the morning at 8 am sharp. The time was 11:07 pm. I needed to sleep. I hadn't read anything at all. I contemplated grabbing my text book and reading a bit but felt too lazy. Well... whatever... I really didn't care. I was tired so I slipped into the blankets checked and responded to a couple of messages on Whatsapp and dozed off. I woke up early, took a shower, wore my uniform and ate my Cornflakes morning cereal as I chatted with my mother. After I was done, I grabbed my satchel. "Good luck on your exam today Simon," my mother called out as left the kitchen. I only smiled at her. I really needed luck. Only God knew I'd read absolutely nothing at all because my whole weekend was spent on movies and social media. I took my bike and rode it to school. I arrived just in time and took my seat at the back of the class. Mr Murovavana, the biology teacher was already there handing out the question papers. After he was done, he went and stood at the door, looking at his Huawei smartphone. After a few minutes, he looked up from his phone. "Okay class, it's 8 am, you can start. You only have two and a half hours. 30 minutes for each question. Let me warn you, if I catch you cheating... you'll regret the day you were born" Mr Murovavana warned us as he eyed us menacingly. Everyone knew that you didn't cheat on Mr Murovavana's tests. This man was a monster. Everyone was afraid of him. He once beat a boy called Willard with a bamboo stick till the boy soiled his pants after he had caught the boy cheating on one of his tests. Cheating on his test was a big risk because he was dangerous. I read the first question. *1. Explain in detail the molecular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and memory formation? [25 marks]* Aaah. Mechanisms of what? Aaah....aaah. I had never heard or read of that stuff ever since I was born. What the heck was this? Perhaps the next question was going to be soft. *2. Explain fully how phylogenetic trees reflect the evolutionary history of organisms? [25 marks]* This was witchcraft. Phylo what? Where did this man get these questions? Did he want anyone to pass? I looked around the class. Other students seemed to be writing. Where were they getting the answers? I knew absolutely nothing. There was nothing to write there. Perhaps the next question was going to be a bit simple. *3. What are the mechanisms of programmed cell death (apoptosis) in development and disease? [20 marks]* Aah. Aah. Aah. This man was a monster. What the heck was apoptosis? The test was child abuse. How could a teacher give children things like that? I'm sure he himself didn't know the answers to these questions either. I prayed to God for number four to be simple. I only had two more questions. I made the sign of the cross then checked number four. *4. Give a detailed explanation of the mechanisms of mitochondrial DNA inheritance and regulation? [25 marks]* Oh my dear sweet Lord. Ah. Where did he get these questions from? I didn't even know what mitochondrial DNA inheritence was. My armpits were wet with sweat and my stomach was rumbling. Things were not going well. Lord God Almighty, I didn't know anything. Was this Form Four stuff? No. There had to be a mistake. This had to be university stuff. My palms were very sweaty now and my head was starting to ache. The possibility of getting a zero was very high. If the last question was difficult too then I was likely going to get a zero. With shaky hands, I flipped the question paper and checked the last question. *5. What are the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation by non-coding RNAs? [30 marks]* Mmmhh. This was bad. I was done for. None of the questions made sense. What were RNAs? Rice Nuts Apples? Was that it? No it couldn't be. I didn't know a thing. I had to cheat if I wanted to pass. There was no other option. I checked for Mr Murovavana. He was standing at the door typing on his phone. He was distracted... probably on WhatsApp or Facebook. This was my chance. I quickly fished out my phone from my pocket entered the pin with the phone hidden under the desk. I went on WhatsApp then opened the *Meta AI* chat. Meta knew everything. I just needed to type the question there, get the answer in a few seconds then copy into my book. I typed the first question then sent it. In a few seconds, I got the answer. Sweet. Maybe I was going to pass after all. I lifted my head to check for Mr Murovavana. He wasn't there. That was a problem. A big one. The man was standing there a few seconds before. Where'd he go? There was absolutely no one at the door where he had been standing. Just then I noticed that most students were looking at me. No. Not at at me but...*behind me.* I wanted to hide my phone...to fight for my life but my hand was absolutely frozen stiff with pure dread. This was said to be one of the monsters powers. Some said he scared you until you couldn't move (that was why some called him Medusa). The phone was stuck in my hand. I felt like crying but no tears came out. How could I not have seen him moving? My heart was now beating madly. This was bad. Very bad. *I was so dead. Only God could save me now. I began praying as I turned back to face the monster that was no doubt standing behind me. "Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name..."* _Might be continued if you enjoyed it. Leave a reaction 😂🔥❤️👍 if you wish to see more of this story. Hope you slept well folks._
