Over 5 million refugees repatriated after advent of the IEA The Ministry of Refugees has revealed updated statistics indicating that 5,097,000 refugees from neighboring nations have returned to Afghanistan over the past four years following the restoration of the Islamic Emirate's authority. In a media dispatch, the ministry's spokesperson announced that 268,000 Afghan nationals have repatriated from Iran and Pakistan within the last two months. Conversely, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) previously reported a forced deportation of 500,000 Afghan refugees from Pakistan and Iran in the same two-month period. Over the past four years, neighboring countries, particularly Iran and Pakistan, have initiated a campaign of compulsory repatriation of Afghan refugees, a move that has drawn strong censure from the Islamic Emirate and global organizations. It is notable that alongside this initiative, the Afghan government has commenced the allocation of land to refugees, alongside earnest endeavors to provide temporary settlements within the country, facilitate their relocation to various provinces, and construct permanent residences.
