8.2 billion AFN invested in power sector over the last two months The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs announced that an investment totaling 8.2 billion afghanis has been secured and utilized within the electricity sector over the past two months. This investment encompasses solar energy initiatives in Nangarhar, Balkh, Herat, and Laghman provinces, along with the execution of wind power projects, power station constructions, and power line extensions in Kandahar, Zabul, and Herat provinces. As outlined in the official statement, the collective electricity production capacity stands at 138.45 megawatts, capable of catering to approximately 100,000 households and numerous industrial facilities. It is noteworthy that the Deputy Prime Minister's Office for Economic Affairs recently initiated the initial phase of a 200-megawatt wind power endeavor, amounting to 68 million afghanis.
