Recently, in *New Zealand’s Parliament*, *Member of Parliament Laura MacLachlan* shocked everyone when she held up a photo and said, “*This is my nude photo.”*
*The entire Parliament was stunned.*
*She then explained that the photo was not real—it was an AI-generated deepfake that she had created herself in just five minutes.*
*Her aim was to show how easy it has become to make fake nude images of anyone using AI technology. She highlighted that young women are the most common victims of such deepfake abuse.*
*MP Laura MacLachlan was supporting a new bill that proposes strict punishment for creating deepfake content without consent.*
She wanted to prove an important point that, Today, anyone’s fake explicit photo can be created easily using AI, and that makes deepfakes not just a joke but a serious digital crime.
*Women and girls are the biggest targets of this crime.*
In truth, *every country now needs a strong law to fight against such misuse of any technology.*
