Seat 11A was near emergency exit. On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight 171 crashed shortly after takeoff, killing nearly everyone on board. Out of the 242 passengers and crew, only one man survived—Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. He had been seated in 11A, near an emergency exit, which may have increased his chances of survival. The aircraft was airborne for less than a minute before it went down, erupting in flames and scattering debris over a wide area. Vishwash was found alive among the wreckage, badly injured but conscious. He later recounted how the plane shook violently and was engulfed in smoke and fire almost instantly. Despite injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet, he was taken to a hospital where he remains in stable condition. His survival has been described as miraculous, and investigators are relying on his firsthand account as they work to determine what led to one of the deadliest air disasters in India’s history.
