The Principal Secretary for MSMEs Development, accompanied by Heads of Departments (HoDs) from the State Department, received the PIU team, marking a pivotal milestone in the implementation of the transformative initiative. The session served as a platform to familiarize the PIU members with the State Department's vision, mandate, operational structures, and the overarching goals of the KJET Project. The KJET Project, jointly funded by the World Bank and the Government of Kenya, is tailored to accelerate the creation of high-quality, sustainable jobs by boosting the competitiveness of growth-oriented MSME clusters. The project also aims to expand market access and amplify green financing opportunities for small businesses, with a sharp focus on inclusive economic transformation. The PS called on the Heads of Departments to support the PIU with technical guidance, data-driven insights, and administrative backing to ensure the project’s objectives are met efficiently. The KJET Project’s design focuses on strengthening MSME ecosystems through cluster development, access to productive infrastructure, business development services, and targeted support for enterprises led by women and youth. By leveraging partnerships across public and private sectors, the project seeks to unlock new economic opportunities while promoting environmental sustainability through green enterprise models. The orientation session marks the official integration of the PIU team; the KJET Project is now poised to transition into full-scale implementation. The project will not only catalyze economic transformation but also serve as a model for inclusive and sustainable development in Kenya.
