Jaunpur’s Amar Shaheed Umanath Singh District Hospital, tensions erupted when a group of about 20–25 transgender individuals stormed the emergency ward after being told that a police FIR was needed before treating one of their injured community members—who had been hurt in an earlier land dispute. Enraged by what they perceived as a refusal of medical care and mistreatment, some protestors stripped in the ward, assaulted Dr. Pawan Singh along with nursing staff and ward attendants, and damaged hospital property, causing fear among patients and staff. The chaotic scene, lasting roughly 45 minutes, went viral on social media. Hospital personnel, citing inadequate security, filed an FIR under attempted murder charges and demanded improved safety measures, threatening a work boycott. Police are analyzing CCTV footage to identify suspects, while the District Magistrate has ordered a fair probe into both the initial assault and the hospital clash.
