The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is reviewing an antitrust complaint filed by Aditya Birla Group’s paint division, Birla Opus, against Asian Paints. The complaint alleges that Asian Paints pressured dealers not to stock Birla Opus products and threatened to restrict credit and supplies if they did. Asian Paints, which holds a significant market share in India's decorative paints sector, has denied these allegations, stating that Birla Opus's rapid market entry indicates no anti-competitive behavior. The CCI is yet to decide on initiating a detailed investigation.
