Apostle Grace Lubega
*Romans 12:3 (ESV):* For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment…
*TRUE HUMILITY*
What is true humility?
It is not walking around with your head low, pretending you’re not gifted or capable. That’s false humility — a denial of what God has placed in you. But it’s also not thinking too highly of yourself, boasting in your strength or achievements. That is pride — an elevation of self apart from the grace that sustains you.
True humility means seeing yourself honestly through God's eyes. It's the balance of recognizing your capabilities in God while staying aware of your human limitations—the understanding that "the treasure is in earthen vessels." This inner posture declares: "Apart from Him, I am nothing. But in Him, I can do all things."
Humility doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself. It means thinking truthfully of yourself — recognizing that all you are, and all you have, flows from God’s hand. You may be gifted, but the gifts came from Him. You may be strong, but that strength is supplied by His Spirit.
Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 3:5, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.” In other words, we don't pretend we have nothing — we recognize that everything we have flows from divine grace. Hallelujah!
*FURTHER STUDY:* 2 Corinthians 3:5; James 4:6
*GOLDEN NUGGET:* True humility means seeing yourself honestly through God's eyes. It's the balance of recognizing your capabilities in God while staying aware of your human limitations—the understanding that "the treasure is in earthen vessels." This inner posture declares: "Apart from Him, I am nothing. But in Him, I can do all things."
*PRAYER:* Father, I thank You for this wisdom. A broken and contrite heart You will not reject and it is what I present before You this day. You help me see myself clearly — not in pride, not in false modesty, but in the light of Your truth. I walk in the confidence that comes from knowing I am Yours, and in the reverence that comes from knowing how much I need You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
