The Western Cape government has ramped up law enforcement presence in Langa following a taxi-related shooting that left two people dead on Monday (9 June). No arrests have been made at this stage.
Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku condemned the violence, stating that such killings rob families of their loved ones and threaten both the minibus taxi industry and the communities it serves.
"I call on all role players to remain calm and allow the law to take its course. We must never accept violence as a way to resolve disputes. Protecting lives and ensuring safety across the public transport network remains central to our mission," he added.
