Thousands of activists and scholars from over 50 countries, including South Africa, are set to embark on a peaceful march from Cairo, Egypt, to the Rafah border crossing under the banner of the “Global March to Gaza” movement. They are demanding an end to Israel’s blockade of Gaza and the free flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave. Local scholar Sheikh Riyaal Rinquest, who is part of the South African delegation heading to Egypt, told VOC News that they are honoured to be part of this critical mission. “This is a responsibility on every Muslim, every human being, to stand up for justice.
