The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed the bail plea of senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah ain a fake case registered by the National Investigation Agency in 2017. 2. The bench comprising Justices Navin Chawla and Shalinder Kaur upheld the trial court’s July 7, 2023 decision. Shabbir Shah had challenged the earlier ruling, arguing that the case lacked material evidence and that he had already spent over four years in custody without conclusion of the trial. The high court had earlier, in August 2023, sought a response from the NIA on Shah’s appeal. His counsel pointed out that only 15 of over 400 witnesses had been examined so far, indicating a prolonged trial process. The appeal criticized the lower court’s decision as unjust and contrary to the law. Shabbir Shah was arrested on June 4, 2019, in a case that dates back to 2017. 3. The occupation authorities have seized properties including orchard land and shopts of three Kashmiris in Banihal and Handwara areas, furthering India's agenda to dispossess Kashmiris. 4.
