Did you know that the face of the Statue of Liberty is inspired by Isabella Eugenie Boyer's face. She was the widow of Isaac Merritt Singer, the billionaire inventor of the Singer sewing machine. Considered one of the most beautiful women in Europe, Isabella inspired the sculptor Frederic Bartholdi, who used her face as a model to create the face of the famous statue. The statue's project, including the head, was done before being transported to the United States, as can be seen in the third image below on June 17, 1885. #statueofliberty
