Abraham As a Model of Faith and Righteousness (Genesis 15:6, Romans 4) _____________________ If you truly want to understand the righteousness that comes from God then you have to analytically look into the life of Abraham. We tend to imagine him as a righteous man whom God chose because of his good character. Most overlook that Abraham was not perfect - he came from a family of idol worshippers, lied to government officials and even had a child outside of marriage. Despite all this, God called him righteous and the reason is given - it is because Abraham believed God. You yourself have believed God many times, but why did that belief never translate into a feeling of righteousness? It is because you were taught to measure righteousness by actions and behaviour instead of faith. But the Bible says Abraham believed and it was credited to him as righteousness. Not because he never sinned or he was morally flawless, but because he trusted what God said. This is the kind of righteousness that speaks louder than performance. It is not a reward for good behaviour but a gift given to those who dare to take God at His word. Today let your belief in what God has spoken be enough.
