*FOCUS:* Staying Fixed on God’s Purpose
In a world of endless noise, distractions, and demands, focus has become a rare but priceless virtue. To walk in God’s purpose, we must train our eyes, hearts, and minds to remain steadfast, no matter the opposition—be it external trials or internal struggles. Focus is not simply about looking; it’s about fixing our gaze on what truly matters: God's call over our lives.
The Apostle Paul, a man of divine mission, declared with intensity: "But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 3:13-14 (ESV)
This level of focus requires letting go of past pain, fear, distractions, and even personal ambition. It demands a disciplined refusal to be swayed by criticism, temptation, or comfort zones.
Jesus Christ Himself modeled perfect focus. Despite the pressures from crowds, the temptations of Satan, and the looming shadow of the cross, He never lost sight of His Father’s will. "My food," Jesus said, "is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work." — John 4:34 (NIV)
Whether it's fear of failure, the approval of people, the pull of sin, or even our own insecurities, anything that dims our spiritual clarity is a threat to our purpose. Hebrews 12:1-2 gives a clear charge: "Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus..."
Focus is not passive; it’s a fight. A daily decision to filter out the noise, silence the lies, and walk in alignment with God's assignment. We are not called to do everything, but we are surely called to do the one thing God purposed for us.
Let every step be intentional. Let every thought be centered. Let every decision be guided by the question: “Does this move me closer to God’s will?” When we focus on God’s purpose, even the fiercest storms become powerless to shift us.
