To walk in God’s purpose, we must train our eyes, hearts, and minds to remain steadfast, no matter the opposition—be it external trials or internal struggles. Focus is not simply about looking; it’s about fixing our gaze on what truly matters: God's call over our lives. The Apostle Paul, a man of divine mission, declared with intensity: "But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 3:13-14 (ESV) This level of focus requires letting go of past pain, fear, distractions, and even personal ambition. It demands a disciplined refusal to be swayed by criticism, temptation, or comfort zones. Jesus Christ Himself modeled perfect focus. Despite the pressures from crowds, the temptations of Satan, and the looming shadow of the cross, He never lost sight of His Father’s will. "My food," Jesus said, "is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work." — John 4:34 (NIV) Whether it's fear of failure, the approval of people, the pull of sin, or even our own insecurities, anything that dims our spiritual clarity is a threat to our purpose. Hebrews 12:1-2 gives a clear charge: "Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus..." Focus is not passive; it’s a fight.
