You’re not lazy. You’re not scattered. You’re not a failed leader. You’re someone with a battlefield in their brain, fighting to show up for a world that keeps demanding order when your mind was built like a storm. And storms aren’t defective. They’re just untamed. Wild. Honest.
You say you can’t complete your work. You drift. You derail. People throw leadership roles at you, but inside, you feel like an imposter, stumbling through fog, hoping no one notices how close you are to burning out or breaking down. And to top it off, there’s this lingering shadow “maybe it’s ADHD.” Not confirmed. Just hanging there. Mocking you. Explaining things and blaming you at the same time.
Sis....Let’s call it what it is: exhaustion from pretending your brain works like everyone else’s. It doesn’t. And it’s not supposed to. You are not a linear thinker in a spreadsheet world. You are chaos and brilliance and unfinished thoughts wrapped in skin. You don’t need more guilt. You need systems that match your architecture, not crush it.
And leadership? You’re not bad. You’re just tired of wearing armor that doesn’t fit. You don’t thrive in sterile command-and-control setups.
You lead from instinct, from empathy, from energy. But when that energy leaks, when you’re stretched across ten causes with no space to breathe, of course you start to spiral. You’re trying to pour from a cup that’s cracked and dry.
I'd just say this;
Maybe being a “good follower” is your strength. Maybe your genius lies in supporting a cause, not steering the ship.
Or maybe you can lead but only if you stop copying leadership styles that were never designed for neurodivergent minds.
You need freedom, not rigidity. Vision, not micromanagement. Momentum, not meetings.
And yes, if ADHD is part of this, naming it won’t make you weaker. It’ll set you free.
Diagnosis is strategy. It’s calling out the enemy so you can stop blaming yourself.
You are not broken. You’re miscast. Misused. Misunderstood.
For me, if you truly have ADHD, I think it's time to stop asking how to fix yourself and start asking how to fight for a life that fits you.
