Adnoc Gas awards $5 billion worth of contracts to UK companies for key expansion project
Wood, Petrofac and Kent share the awards for the first phase of the Rich Gas Development project
Adnoc Gas has taken the final investment decision on its Rich Gas Development (RGD) and awarded $5 billion in engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contracts for the first phase of the project.
The state giant awarded contracts to UK contractors Wood, Petrofac and Kent, it announced in a statement on Tuesday. The EPCM contracts have been awarded in three tranches for the project's initial phase, which will focuses on optimising and debottlenecking existing gas assets while unlocking new gas streams.
The RDG project involves setting up the surface facilities required to handle additional associated gas production expected from Adnoc's P5 programme, which aims to boost oil production capacity by 150,000 barrels per day from current levels to 5 million bpd by 2027.
The contracts announced on Tuesday involve expanding key processing units to increase throughput and improve operational efficiency across four Adnoc Gas facilities: Asab, Bu Hasa, onshore Habshan and the offshore Das Island liquefaction facility.
The first of the three tranches, valued at $2.8 billion, has been given to Wood for the Habshan facility.
