*ABUSIVE SYSTEMS* Abraham and David each have three sets of sons. Abraham’s sons are from three different women in three different phases of his life. Similarly, David’s sons are from three different seasons of his life and three different places. Abraham’s three different sets of sons are Ishmael, his son with the Egyptian woman Hagar, the sons of his second wife Keturah, and Isaac, his son with his beloved wife Sarah. At any given moment in ministry fathers will have these three kinds of sons in their ministry and life. *Now Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah. She bore to him Zimran and Jokshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbak and Shuah… now Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac; but to the sons of his concubines, Abraham gave gifts while he was still living, and sent them away from his son Isaac eastward, to the land of the east.* Genesis 25:1–2,5–6 *Abraham’s Labor Sons* Ishmael is the labor son of Abraham by Hagar the Egyptian maid. Labor sons are individuals that work in your ministry, but they are looking for the door out. Unfortunately, there are ministries that do not create an exit for developing individual ministries in the house. For example, there can be someone with a gift on their life sitting in church for 10, 12, or 15 years but there is no way out of the house. If they stay they die. If they leave, they have to tear an exit out and hurt the structure. To assist them, fathers have to create exit structures to release greater, stronger, younger, more powerful, more gifted men, to start their ministry. If we remain naïve, foolish and attempt to keep people under subjection with scripture verses like *‘touch not mine anointed and domy prophets no harm’* 1Chronicles 16:22, at some point this young lion will want to leave. If fathers have no exit strategy in place, then the son will tear up the place. Some of the labor sons will leave. They will not produce too much in terms of productivity for the local house in terms of the spreading of DNA. It will be like Ishmael. Only after a labor son leaves does he in his first generation produce 12 princes. He is a labor son. He will do what he is told—carry water, milk the goats, carry the wood, pitch the tents—but that is all he will do. He is a labor son. He is paid to work and he works to be paid. Labor sons work to go and start their own ministries somewhere else where they will put all their time and energy and produce more for their own ministry. Fathers must understand that this is the process of things for labor sons. *Abraham’s Gift Sons* These are the sons of Keturah, Abraham’s second wife after Sarah’s death. Gift sons come with unique gifting. For example, Midian was gifted as a prophetic seer. He had the gift of revelation. Every house has gift sons. They are not inheritance sons, but they are gift sons. They come with distinct gifting and in the future, they will expand the arm of your ministry. They will duplicate the DNA in another place. Abraham sent these sons. He gave them each a check and sent them east because they are able to start and duplicate what he taught them. *Abraham’s Inheritance Sons* Isaac is Abraham’s inheritance son. Inheritance sons are your love children. These are the kids for whom you build your ministry. These are the ones for whom you gave your life, blood and sacrifice. Fathers do not give their work to hired guns because they can preach. Fathers must have a love child. It may or may not be your own physical son. It could be a spiritual son that God raised up right before you like Timothy. That is your double. He walks like you walk, talks like you talk, thinks like you think. He is the duplication of you, but he has a louder role. That is your Isaac. Do you know why Isaac loved Esau as much as he loved him? This is my opinion. When those boys were born, Jacob and Esau, Jacob looked like Rebekah. The bible says Rebekah was very fair. Esau had a lot of Abraham on him, so every time Isaac looked at Esau he saw his daddy, and because he loved his daddy so much, there was some misjudgment concerning where the inheritance should go. Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 years old. Do you know how 100-yearold men act when they have a child they could never have from a wife that is the love of their life? It is like a man that has four sons and suddenly out of nowhere they have a little girl. There is all of this love to pour on the child. Isaac and Abraham are tight, and when Abraham dies, Isaac does not recover. It takes him twenty years from his marriage to have kids because of grief for his father. Fathers, you need in your ministry to start developing that love child, that person that is going to inherit your work. If you leave your ministry to somebody that is a hired gun, they will tear up that building you built and put up something else. They will tear down the church that was a century of holiness and sacrifice, and turn it into a cesspool of mess.
