*Zambezia: Government and World Bank Invest $2M in Irrigation in Mopeia, but Farmers Face Market Shortages*
The Government of Mozambique, in partnership with the World Bank, is investing 171 million meticais (USD 2.7 million) to implement irrigation systems powered by the national electricity grid and solar panels in three of the four irrigation zones located in Mopeia district, in the central province of Zambezia. While the project has raised hopes among farmers due to improved rice yields, concerns about the lack of market access persist, according to O País newspaper on Thursday, June 12.
