*Doctors assaulted at Howrah District Hospital* A patient was admitted to the *Medicine Ward of Howrah Hospital* with severe chest pain. The patient's Troponin-T report came back positive, and an immediate ECG confirmed that the patient was suffering from an Acute Myocardial Infarction (heart attack). Following all standard medical protocols, emergency treatment was promptly initiated. Unfortunately, despite best efforts, the patient passed away within an hour. From the very beginning, the patient's relatives (approximately 12 individuals) displayed extremely aggressive behavior. After the patient's death, they *physically assaulted doctors from the Medicine department—grabbing one doctor by the collar, beating him with a chair, and hurling verbal abuse, including threats to their lives. Two first-year postgraduate trainees (PGTs) were also attacked.* One of them sustained a cut and bleeding injury behind the ear after being struck with a glass object. *Despite repeated calls, neither the Howrah Police from the police Station nor the hospital security personnel arrived at the scene.* A senior doctor later intervened to control the situation, but he too was subjected to verbal abuse and humiliation by the patient's relatives.
