*Vitamin D Chronicles Cont’d* ——— - *Not-so fun fact*: Many think the sun will age you fast. It does the opposite (sunshine, not sunburns, that is). Sunscreen will age you big time. - Sunscreens block uvB, one of the rays of the sun that helps the body make Vit. D. uvB is good for your skin. - Without Vit. D, one’s immunity is low and is prone to nearly any condition, if not all conditions. - Low vitamin D contributes to *all cause mortality*. - Sunscreens contain forever chemicals or PFAs and other harmful substances that actually penetrate the skin and end up in the bloodstream. - 100% virgin coconut oil or aloe vera oil are good substitutes. Or, better still, when the skin starts to burn, get out of the sun. - All cancer patients have one thing in common: Low vitamin D. If the sun caused cancer, the highest cases of skin cancer would be in Africa. - Strangely, skin cancer is very rare in Sub-Sahara Africa (most common in Europe and N. America), but some doctors even here in Kenya will warn you against exposing yourself to the sun. - At one time WHO recommended 600ius of vitamin D daily (instituted decades ago as a measure against rickets). 600ius is the equivalent of 2mins of sunshine at the equator, shorter as one moves away from the centre of the earth. From studies, even over 20,000ius of vitamin D as a daily supplement has no toxicity, and even 30,000ius and 40,000ius daily have been recommended particularly for those suffering chronic illnesses, including cancer. - Recent studies show that if a blood test for vitamin D shows you have more than 50ng/ml of vitamin D3 in your blood plasma, you cannot suffer from *any cancer*, something experts like Dr. Simon Goddek, Dr. John Campbell (UK) among others have vowed to. - The skin makes vitamin D, and then sends it to the liver and a bit to the kidneys, and enzymes in those organs need magnesium to convert vitamin D to the hormone D3.
