*Follow Up Tips* ———- I may have shared the information below before. I’m re-sharing, in response to multiple requests on how best to shed excess belly weight, or excess weight in general. The following tips assume one is not under medication for serious medical conditions, but are overweight and determined to lose excess weight: - Eliminate foods fried using supermarket seed oils (bread margarine is a type of seed oil). This move alone will cause you to lose weight. Replace with tallow, ghee, avocado oils and if your budget allows it, butter and 100% virgin coconut oils. - *Remove carbohydrates and sugars*, if the same can’t be eliminated. So rid your diet of cakes, potatoes, potato fries, bhajias, pizzas, porridge, packed juices, energy drinks, bread (even brown bread), doughnuts, certain smoothies, ugali/pap, milkshakes, mandazis, sodas, table sugar, processed oats, which many believe are healthy, and similar foods. Also stop drinking blended juices from fresh fruits. Eat whole fruit instead. - *Stop snacking* - snacks eaten in between the main meals. If you must snack, snack as close to the time of a main meal as possible. - *Prolonged Fasting* - If you take three meals a day, start taking two meals a day for a couple of weeks. Your body, trust me, will adapt. Depending on how badly one wants to lose weight, after two weeks of two meals a day, consider OMAD - one meal a day. - Increase portions of vegetable salad, protein and healthy fat on your regular meal plate. Eat pasture raised meat and mutton, pork - yes, pork, avocados, nuts (roasted far healthier than fried ones) and eggs, which contain choline, which helps burn liver fat and is good for the brain. I know many have been taught the reverse is true, but the more meat and healthy proteins you take, the leaner you get (except when they’ve been prepared using seed oils). - Finally, embark on cardio exercises. One of the least strenuous and effective exercises for burning excess weight is brisk walks. Go for 5-7 kn walks at least thrice weekly, if not everyday. There are other things you can do, including but not limited to swimming, but I chose the foregoing “shortcut” methods. You can’t go wrong with the above. The last part of this message below is on “boosters”. As you do the above, certain foods, herbs and spices can help accelerate the weight loss initiative. - [ ] Incorporating cinnamon, clove tea, green tea, ginger tea or ‘dawa’ (especially at night), as well as turmeric, apple cider vinegar and chilli peppers like cayenne pepper will help accelerate the weight loss. These will also help treat address various inflammatory conditions one may be facing, or is at risk of facing due to their prevailing condition. That’s it!
