They both involve the brain, can look sudden and scary, but stroke and seizure are not interchangeable. One is about damage, the other about a storm.
⚡ 𝚂𝚎𝚒𝚣𝚞𝚛𝚎
Definition: A sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain that causes changes in behavior, movements, feelings, or consciousness.
The brain normally communicates via organized electrical signals. In seizures, those signals become chaotic. There are many types — some cause full-body convulsions (tonic-clonic), others just brief staring spells (absence seizures).
Seizures can occur due to epilepsy (a chronic condition of recurrent seizures), but also from fever, infection, trauma, stroke, alcohol withdrawal, or metabolic issues.
They often last seconds to minutes, followed by confusion or sleepiness. Diagnosis involves EEG (electroencephalogram), imaging, and lab tests. Treatment depends on cause — may include anti-seizure medications, surgery, or lifestyle changes.

🧠 𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚘𝚔𝚎
Definition: A medical emergency where the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients.
There are two main types:
- *Ischemic stroke*: Blockage of a blood vessel (most common).
- *Hemorrhagic stroke*: Bleeding into the brain from a burst vessel.
Without oxygen, brain cells begin to die within minutes. This can lead to permanent damage, disability, or death. Symptoms often come suddenly:
Face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty — time to act fast (use the FAST acronym).
Immediate CT or MRI confirms the diagnosis. Treatment can include clot-busting drugs (thrombolytics), surgery, and long-term rehab.

Seizure = Brain's power surge
Stroke = Brain's power outage
One returns to normal quickly; the other may never fully recover.
