*International Day of the Boy Child – 16 May* Today, 16 May 2025, the Department of Correctional Services joins the International Day of the Boy Child celebration, aiming to raise awareness about the challenges boys face, including mental health issues and educational disparities. This day promotes positive role models, mentorship, and discussions on boys' well-being, development, and rights. It highlights the importance of supporting boys' growth, acknowledging their unique needs, and fostering a nurturing environment. At the Department of Correctional Services, juveniles in correctional facilities receive educational programmes, vocational training, and support from social workers and psychologists to rehabilitate and correct offending behaviour. The Department reaffirms its commitment to supporting the rehabilitation and development of young boys in its care, which aligns with the spirit of the International Day of the Boy Child.
